Our school annually accommodates some 120 scholars, another 30 or so crèche kids, and some 12 to 15 babies, aged 6 to 24 months.

In a modern kichten, two cooks prepare hot meals for all the children. We provide dry rations monthly to 30 odd, aged destitute people. We have music and arts teachers apart from our academic teaching staff.  We provide baby and child care, plus all clothing and special medical services to every kid.

All visitors are most welcome to experience the school and its various activities. At present Oulap friendly foundations in Europe provide the ongoing funds to run the project day in and day out.

Our School

We believe in the future!

Vlakteplaas School

In January 2005 the first bricks were laid of what has now become a famous hinterland project. It was a dream of Jans, and with very generous financial help from the Oulap guests, he set out to build, and manage the best rural school in the country.

Today the impossible is a reality. The Vlakteplaas UCC Primary School is a shining example of what can be achieved when a group of people join hands to realise the potential of forgotten children in one faraway poor community.
