Guest bedrooms

Oulap has four en-suite guest bedrooms, a large lounge, library and reading room, a cellar bar and swimming pool. The atmospheric wood-panelled dining room seats sixteen people.

As a founding father of the Klein Karoo National Arts festival (KKNK) Jans has intimate knowledge of South Africa, its peoples and their dreams. During and long after dinner guests sit around the large yellow and stinkwood table discussing the spirit of a country reborn, of a new nation arising from a million yesterdays…

Dinner is always a relaxed affair, with lively conversation accompanying good wines. Cuisine is traditional farm fare with a dash of style. Almeri is the chef and provides seasonally fresh ingredients and servings of generous Karoo portions.

Breakfasts, like the dinners, are home-made country-style affairs. Fruits, juices and cereals are set out on the sideboard, orders are taken for eggs with all the trimmings, and if you're lucky you'll get a chance to try one of the ostrich eggs which will be transformed into scrambled eggs under Almeri's capable hands.
